The first year course is designed specifically to inculcate among the students a proficiency in the basic but diverse subjects such as Mathematics,
Chemistry, Physics, and Communication Skills. The students in their first year of the B.Tech course are store houses of raw talents which need
to be channelized and to a large extent this responsibility is shouldered by the faculty of the Department of Applied Sciences & Humanities by
providing a foundation in shaping the personality of the future engineers. Department considers the students as an active and integral part of
the Higher Education and lays a strong edifice which will orient them to meet the challenges of life by not merely becoming trained professionals
but also better citizens. The students are intelligent, hardworking and disciplined. I am really proud of them. Some of the Staff members are
upgrading their qualifications and are registered for Ph.D. or M.Phil. degree. Staff members take keen interest in Co-curricular activities and
guide and encourage the students to take part in these activities. To keep in touch with the developments, the Department of Applied Sciences
and Humanities organizes Faculty Development Programs from time to time. The faculty and students are also encouraged to attend the seminars
and workshops outside the campus. The Department also organized “Improvement in English Speaking and Personality Development” classes for students.
I hope in near future the Department will excel in the field of Research. I wish all my students and colleagues the very best of luck for the future.
