The field of Electronics and Communication is advancing at a very rapid pace. Digital Electronics has taken the centre stage in every area, in computers, microprocessors or communications. On one hand, processors are racing at Ghz, while the opto-electronics and photonic engineering have bought in tremendous speed and bandwidth capacity. The wireless communication (mobile communication) have experienced and explosive growth over the last two decades, facilitating multimedia (voice, data, video, fax, e-mail etc..) magabit services from tiny portable set, and yet with many more challenges for the engineering students and faculty. While these developments together with a large spectrum of new challenges to the business, engineering and scientific community, while it may be necessary to adopt new technologies, the replacement of old systems can take place only gradually. The engineers need to prepare themselves to be able to work in such environment to work with a mixture of new and old technologies.
